2016 has been and will be one of my best travel years so far and it’s only halfway over! So far I’ve ventured to San Francisco, NYC, and explored Spain, a new country for me.
While this pales in comparison to the destinations of a full-time traveler, I’m proud of myself for fitting in what I can with a full-time job. Thanks nursing for being so flexible with PTO and time off!
I am so excited about my upcoming travel plans and thought I’d share in case anyone out there has any suggestions or tips on making the experiences better!
A Weekend in Chicago
Ever since Ben and I moved to Dallas and have gotten “real” jobs, we’ve committed to taking frequent weekend getaways in order to keep our sanity! Some of which have included San Francisco (one of my faves) and NYC.
Most of our weekend getaways are unplanned and last minute and I’ve only included it in my list because we’re going next weekend.
Why Chicago? Why not! I’ve always heard such great things about the windy city (except in the wintertime, only horror stories). Oh, and the Texas Rangers are playing the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley so we’ll be going to that since the boyfriend is baseball obsessed.
Cheering on the USA in Rio
When Ben told me he’d have some time in August to go anywhere in the world, the possibilities were endless.
Somehow we stumbled on the idea of cheering on the U.S. of A. and going to the Olympics! This had never been on my radar but I am SO glad that we’re going.
Planning this a little last minute, I was nervous we wouldn’t be able to get tickets to any of the events. Luckily (for us) people are a little nervous about Brazil right now (Zika, crime, economy, etc.) so tickets were plentiful and the whole trip is honestly pretty cheap as the exchange rate is definitely in our favor. Stay tuned to see which events we get to see! Hint: They’re good ones.
Exploring the Amazon
Might as well check out the Amazon while we’re in Brazil, right?
Before heading back to the USA, we’ll be stopping by Manaus and trekking into the jungle for a few days for a little adventure. We’ll put our outdoorsiness to the test with hikes through the jungles and cruises down the Amazon.
Girls Trip in Mexico
When your friends know you love to travel, you sometimes get invited on random girls’ trips. One of my coworkers is planning a beach vacay to the Mayan Riviera with some of her friends and invited me along. Uh, yes?!
I’ll fifth wheel it in Mexico all day long, sign me up!
Two more countries will be added to my list of places I’ve been before the end of the year. And this is only what’s planned.
Who knows what else will pop up. Can’t wait!
