About Me

The Adventuring Texan

Hi, I’m Katy, the Adventuring Texan!

Traveling has been a growing passion of mine since my very first trip to Europe in the summer of 2013. Until then, the only place I had been outside the United States was Grand Cayman for my ‘Congrats on graduating high school’ trip from my mom. (Thanks mom!)

Growing up, the idea of traveling seemed like a far off and distant possibility. I had never traveled outside of the United States and had barely even travelled within the States. The idea of hiking naturally beautiful cliff sides of the Amalfi Coast or seeing the sunset of Florence from the steps of Piazza Michelangelo seemed like something only millionaires and celebs could afford to do.

After graduating college and becoming a real adult as a pediatric nurse, I was finally making my own money and could do what I wanted with it and I realized that traveling really isn’t as expensive and unattainable as I once thought. I signed up for a trip to Europe with my best friend in the summer of 2013 and have been addicted to traveling ever since. The “travel bug” is a real thing y’all.

While my deepest passion is exploring the nooks and crannies of this beautiful world, I could never be full-time traveling nomad. I fell in love with a boy (who also loves to travel!) nine years ago and we’re currently establishing roots in Dallas, TX. Growing up in Texas, the state will always be my home and it’s good to know that it will always be there when I need it. Texas forever! (Friday Night Lights anyone??)

This blog is a way for me to prove that it’s completely doable to travel the world and have a full-time job at the same time. Follow the Adventuring Texan around the world as I attempt to inspire you with the beauty of the world.
